Felony criminal mischief with intent to damage property was held over for Montgomery County court Tuesday against William James Morris, 27, of Norristown, accused of causing more than $5,000 in damage to the interior of a Wawa in Towamencin in October 2012.

Other misdemeanor and summary charges were held at the Lansdale preliminary hearing in connection with the incident at the Wawa at Forty Foot Road and Sumneytown Pike on Oct. 26: Four counts of misdemeanor terroristic threats, a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, according to court records.

Morris remains out on 10 percent of $25,000 bail, according to court records.

Here's what happened, according to police:

Wawa employees told police on the night of Oct. 26, 2012 that Morris allegedly began acting in an erratic manner inside the store and attempted to go behind the deli counter, police said.

When confronted by the manager, Morris allegedly began yelling profanity, jumping up and down and flailing his arms in the air, police said.

Morris allegedly began knocking down displays and merchandise, police said.

Morris also allegedly threw several computers to the floor and threw a large-screen TV, damaging and shattering all items, police said.

Police said the coffee bar, deli counter and a number of displays were damaged during the disturbance.

Damages were estimated at $5,000, police said.

Police responded to Wawa at around 10:45 p.m. and encountered Morris, who was allegedly acting disorderly outside the store through yelling and using profanity.

Morris appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, police said.

Police attempted to calm Morris, but he allegedly persisted in the disorderly conduct by disturbing and alarming other people in the area, police said. Morris was taken into custody.

Morris was allegedly in possession of a small amount of marijuana, police said.
