Child Found Abandoned at 1100 Block of Powell Street

Staff at Central Montgomery County MHMR found the child unattended in a stroller near their parking lot and notified authorities.

The has reportedly identified the mother of a young child left unattended in the parking lot of  on the 1100 block of Powell Street today, but have yet to locate the woman.

Staff at Central reportedly saw an unattended stroller on a patch of grass adjacent to their parking lot sometime around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and brought the small child, a boy, into the office just as this morning's rain started. Staff members reportedly checked with patients and visitors in the building looking for information on the child and notified authorities.

Police arrived on the scene and notified Montgomery County Office of Children & Youth, who took the child into custody. Montgomery County Communications Director Frank Custer told Norristown Patch that OCY took the boy, believed to be between six-months and one-year old, to the county health department for a check up.

He was in good condition," said Custer. "His hair was well trimmed and he had no diaper rash. He looked healthy."

OCY took the child to the Montgomery County Health Department for a check up where he was said to have a slight fever, but no serious injuries or maladies. The child is being transfered to a foster home in Chester County until such time as a parent or guardian can be located.

"The home that they are taking him to is the home of a woman who is very experienced in taking care of small children," said Custer. "He'll be re-evaluated by a doctor down there."

Police reportedly canvassed the neighborhood this morning, searching for a parent or guardian of the child and Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono said a duffel bag found near where the child was discovered led police to the identity of the child's mother, but she has not yet been located.

"We still have no idea where she's at," said Chief Bono.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Norristown Police at 610-270-0977.

I was wrong to judge.this mother could have been in,a very abusive relationship that led to a horrific ending, she could have pist partum,or maybe she just couldnt do it. But she should have atleast left him at the hospital.

I highly doubt someone in their right mind would leave a child outside? Especially leaving identification behind.... Unlikely!
