Cops Thwart Man Carting Off Shopping Cart

An elderly gentlemen reportedly took an Acme shopping cart on a joyride down Ridge and Trooper.

Three Lower Providence police patrol cars converged on the unit block of Trooper Road late Wednesday afternoon in response to a "theft in progress" call from the Acme Markets, located at 2775 W. Ridge Pike, in the township.

The haul? A shopping cart.

The suspect, an elderly-looking gentleman, was stopped on foot in the driveway of a home at 24 N. Trooper Road.

Cops were interviewing neighbors and witnesses at the scene. The man was reportedly taken into custody by police.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.

Now that's some serious police work! We need these guys in the Borough. I bet they are a whiz at catching shooters if they can catch a grocery cart thief on Geritol.
