Dominique Devlin,16, Killed in Midnight Shooting on East Basin Street

Witnesses say the victim and suspect appeared to be talking in a friendly manner before the shooting.

and Montgomery County Detectives are currently investigating a shooting that has left a teen girl dead. has identified the victim as 16-year-old Dominique Devlin, a resident of Norristown.

Montgomery County Dispatch received a call one minute after midnight last night for the shooting that occurred in an alley on East Basin Street between DeKalb and Green streets.

Witnesses on the scene spoke to Norristown Patch and described details of the scene before the shooting, but asked not to be identified.

According to witnesses, the victim was speaking in a friendly manner with a stocky, black male who appeared to be in his early to late 20s. The two were seen leaning against a parked car and talking sometime around midnight last night.

Witnesses say sometime shortly after the two were first noticed on the scene, the male suspect led the girl to the alley directly across from where the two were speaking and disappeared from sight.

According to witnesses, within minutes, a series of six shots were heard, presumably from a small caliber weapon, and the victim was seen running from the alley east on East Basin Street. She collapsed in front of a home on the corner of East Basin and Green streets.

A crowd of onlookers from the neighborhood gathered to investigate, and it was observed that the victim was bleeding and struggling to breathe. Witnesses called 911 and attempted to speak to the victim while waiting for police and EMS.

Witnesses say the victim was still breathing and responsive when the ambulance arrived, but Montgomery County detectives are reporting that the victim has been pronounced dead, and it is a homicde investigation.

Officials from the Norristown Police Department, Montgomery County Detectives and the Montgomery County Coroner's Office have all been contacted, but have yet to issue any statement.
