Fire Dept. Battles Basin Street Fire

No one was injured in the fire and the firefighters were able to rescue a pet cat from the blaze.

The Norristown Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at 20 West Basin Street shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday. According to the department's website, firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze that appeared to have started on the back stairs and extended into the kitchen and then into an attached property. No word yet on what caused the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. Firefighters were able to safely remove a pet cat from the home.
