Firefighters Respond to West Main and Swede for Report of Fire

Firefighters are calling for fire police to close down Lafayette Street.

UPDATE: 9:30 p.m. – Reports from the scene indicate firefighters have the fire under control.

The fire appears to have started in a vacant building on West Main but reports of damage to Wee Daddy's and adjacent building have been heard on the county radio. No cause has been determined and no injures have been reported. PECO is on the scene and power has been shut off to the affected buildings.

Firefighters are still seeing smoke emanating from the basement of the building and are returning to the lower level to investigate.

Norristown firefighters responded to a call of a building fire just before 8 p.m. tonight according to Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. Reports of heavy smoke coming from a building with a commercial storefront on the ground floor and apartments above led firefighters to enter the building to search for the blaze.

County radio is reporting the bulk of the fire is out and emergency personnel are evacuating the French Roof Executive Building at 18 W. Main St.

According to The Times Herald, no one has yet been reported injured.
