Green Street Shooting a Robbery Gone Wrong

Police are searching for two suspects in the shooting of 43-year-old Norristown man who tried to fight them off when they attempted to rob him at gun point.

Authorities are searching for two suspects in that sent a Norristown man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to a report from the Norristown Police Department, officers responded to the scene shortly after midnight on Thursday, Aug. 16 and discovered the victim, a 43-year-old man, lying on the front steps of a home on the street. The victim was bleeding profusely from several gunshot wounds to the stomach, thigh and arm. The man was conscious, but unable to relate to officers what had happened.

Paramedics from Plymouth Ambulance Company arrived and reportedly stabilized the victim and prepared him for medevac to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

According to reports, a witness told police that he had just dropped the victim off at his home on the 800 block of Green Street and while the witness entered the house, the victim stayed on the front step to smoke a cigarette. The witness told police he was standing in the doorway to the home when he observed a black male who appeared to be in his early 20s walking south on Green Street. Then a second black male, who also appeared to be in his early 20s appear from the 200 block of Budd Alley.

Both men reportedly approached the victim and the first male allegedly produced a chrome, high-caliber revolver and said "Give me the money." The witness told police that the victim responded, "You want the money?" and threw the contents of his pockets into the street. The witness stated that as the first suspect turned to retrieve the money, the victim pushed him, causing the gun to fall into the street.

As the two men reportedly struggled, the second suspect allegedly retrieved the gun and fired two shots at the victim, hitting him both times. The two suspects then reportedly fled east in Budd Alley.

Police were unable to locate any shell casings from the scene, but did log the following items into evidence:

  • One red light;
  • One broken cigarette;
  • One money transfer belonging to the victim;
  • One black Metro PCS Samsung cellphone.

Police are still searching for the two suspects. Both are described as black males in the early 20s with short black hair, medium complexions and wearing short-sleeved white shirts and dark or black pants. One is described as 5'11" with a thin build and the second is described as 5'8" with a medium build.
