House Fire Extinguished Monday Night

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Around 11:45 p.m. on Monday the Norristown Fire Department left the scene of a now-extinguished house fire in the 1000 block of West Marshall Street, according to Norristown fire chief Thomas M. O'Donnell.

Firefighters were dispatched around 10 p.m. Carpeting was involved in the fire, which had its start on the outside of the house, according to the chief. The home was vacant and under renovation.

The fire reached into the home, which suffered minor damage. The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the blaze.
