Man Punches and Breaks SEPTA Bus Window, Say Police

A man who could not pay his fare punched the bus window.

A man is accused of punching and breaking a SEPTA bus window in Norristown, say police.

Police went to the area of East Oak Street and DeKalb Street on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. after a report of a man who had allegedly broken a SEPTA bus window, according to a Norristown police report. Police arrived and spoke with the bus driver, who told police that a man embarked on the bus and could not pay for his bus fare. According to the driver, there was a short discussion, after which the man became angry, say police.

The driver told police that the man left the bus, after which he punched the window of the bus’s front door, which created a sizeable break in he window. Police spoke to four passengers who were on the bus, all who indicated that the man became angry and punched the window, according to the report.

According to police, the bus driver said that the man had left before police arrived, but was able to give police a description. Police were able to locate the man soon after; the man, Kevin M. Ford, said that he punched the SEPTA bus window, which was now damaged, according to the report.

The driver told police that an estimate of the repair to the bus window would be around $200-300. Police cited Ford at the scene for criminal mischief; he is to be cited via mail for disorderly conduct, according to the report. There was another person with Ford who was not charged in relation to the incident.
