Norristown Police Warn Public of Recent West End Burglaries

According to police, 10 burglaries were reported within the last 10 days.

Following is a public safety notice from the Norristown Police Department:

There has been a surge in burglaries in the west end of Norristown, between the 500 and 600 blocks of George and Kohn Street. There were 10 reported burglaries in the last 10 days in this area. Most of these burglaries have occurred during the daytime hours. The suspects have been making forced entry through doors or windows.  The most recent burglary occurred on the 500 Block of Kohn Street by a  black male wearing a black hoody, black pants, and black sneakers carrying a black backpack.

Please be sure that when leaving your residence to secure all doors and windows. When you are home keep an eye out for any suspicious persons on your block. If you see anything suspicious call 911 immediately. If you have any information concerning the burglaries or if you see any suspicious persons please contact the Norristown Police Department.

These types of burglaries usually occur after the actor knocks on the front door to make sure nobody is home and then breaks into the back or side of the house. Burglars occasionally guess wrong and target a house that is occupied. He will then have to ask for “Jose” or “John” or give some other nonsense reason for being at the wrong house.
