Norristown Woman Arrested in Connection With Thursday Morning Audubon Crash

Brittney Yvonne Wallace-Johnson, 22, is facing multiple charges after a crash she was involved in ignited a car fire and shut down a busy intersection Thursday morning.

According to Lower Providence Police, both parties in a vehicle crash that ignited a car fire and shut down the intersection at Trooper and Egypt roads Thursday morning are facing legal repercussions as a result.

Police reports indicate that the accident was caused when 38-year-old Ricardo Hernandez, of Norristown, attempted to make a left turn from westbound Egypt Road into the parking lot of the Arby's at that intersection when his maroon Ford Escort was struck by a Silver Chevy Malibu being driven by 22-year-old Brittney Yvonne Wallace-Johnson, also of Norristown. Wallace-Johnson was travelling eastbound on Egypt at what witnesses say was a high rate of speed.

Police and EMS reportedly arrived on the scene and found Hernandez bleeding from the head and his vehicle smoking. Hernandez was treated at the scene for his injuries and the Lower Providence Fire Department was called to extinguish the car and aid with traffic control.

Wallace-Johnson was seen by witnesses talking on her cell phone immediately following the crash and reportedly left the scene, but was found by police walking southbound through the shopping center and was brought back to the scene. Witnesses there identified her as the driver of the Chevy Malibu.

Hernandez was found to be driving without a license and was released from the scene to be cited by mail.

Wallace-Johnson's license was found to be suspended and she was unable to offer any proof of insurance. Police discovered the vehicle did not belong to Wallace-Johnson and contacted the owner, who reportedly told police Wallace-Johnson did not have permission to use the vehicle.

Wallace-Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Montgomery County Correction Facility to await arraignment. She is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, duty to give information and render aid, required financial responsibility and driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked. Wallace-Johnson was arraigned and bail was set at $5,000.

What's a green card ignorant? Is that someone who ignores that they should have a green card, license and insurance.
