Norristown Woman Found Dead in Her Home

Friends say the woman had recent medical issues.

According to a report from the , officers responded to the 800 block of Kohn Street just after 1 a.m. on Monday, July 9, for a report of an unresponsive subject. The woman was reportedly bleeding from the mouth and CPR was being administered.

On arrival, police found 26-year-old Jennifer Lewis lying on the couch in the living room of the home. She was reportedly unresponsive, not breathing and cold to the touch. Lewis was transported by Plymouth Ambulance to where she was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m.

A male friend reportedly told police he was staying with Lewis to help her care for her three children because she had not been feeling well for the three days prior to her death. The friend told police that Lewis had multiple medical issues, including a recent onset of diabetes, and had refused to seek medical attention for her condition.

The friend told police he awoke shortly before 1 a.m. Monday morning and heard Lewis moaning and gasping. He called two other people for help and one of those people called 911.

Lewis' mother was also contacted and was informed of her daughter's condition by police. Montgomery County Children and Youth Services was contacted an apprised of the situation and the Lewis' mother agreed to take custody of the three children and stay at the home until official arrangements could be made.

The Montgomery County Coroner's office has not yet released the cause of death.
