Nov. 1 Fire Was Arson, Says Fire Chief

Authorities have been investigating 10 Norristown fires.

Amidst the investigation of ten fires that have burned in Norristown in the past two weeks, which authorities are investigating, Norristown Fire Department fire chief Thomas M. O'Donnell indicated that one of the fires, a vehicle fire on Nov. 1, was due to arson, according to The Times Herald.

O’Donnell was referencing a car that was on fire around 6:30 a.m. behind a building on the 100 block of East Elm Street.

Police told Patch.com after the fire that it was said that a man was running from the scene, and authorities were looking for a white or Hispanic man who had been carrying a bag.

According to The Times Herald, the owner of the car said that her neighbor woke her to tell her about the fire. The owner said that she did not know who would set the car on fire, and that the car had been working.

They also reported that police told the owner that they had been called to the residence around 3:30 a.m. in response to an alleged disturbance. They found a man knocking on the woman’s door who told police he wanted to go into the apartment. The woman indicated that she knew of the knocking but did not recognize the person at the door.
