Norristown police were called to a local pharmacy where a store security officer had allegedly been punched in the face by an alleged robber who carried a bag with a picture of a fox on it.
On Jan. 26 at 4:43 p.m. Norristown police went to the CVS Pharmacy at 701 DeKalb St. to stop a theft in progress, and were told by a dispatcher that the subject had taken items, left the store, and was chased by a store security, say police.
According to police, the dispatcher indicated that a security officer was punched in the face during the incident.
Upon arriving a Norristown officer spoke to a store employee, who said that, around 4:38 p.m., an African American man who was about 5’10” to 6’ and about 220-240 pounds came into the store wearing a puffy, light blue winter coat that came to his knees, and which had a dark collar, a black hood, a navy-colored polo shirt, a white t-shirt, black shoes and light blue jeans.
He carried an orange bag that had a picture of a fox. He supposedly filled the bag with personal hygiene items and left the store around 4:41 p.m.
The store security officer exited the store and stood in front of the man, who allegedly began to push the security officer. The security officer grabbed the bag, after which the man punched him in the face, released the bag and fled from the parking lot, going west on Chestnut St. and south on Willow St. say police.
The bag contained $101.41 worth of CVS merchandise, as well as socks that were not from CVS. Video surveillance evidence will be provided to police.
