Police Honor Chief Willie Richet by Escorting Him to Work

He addressed his staff afterward, thanking them for their efforts.

“Everything that I’ve done in this police department, I’ve given 100%,” said Norristown police chief Willie Richet to his staff, outside of the police department Friday morning, after his officers escorted him to work, in honor of his career in the department that he now turns over to his successor, Mark Talbot, Sr., who starts Monday.

His officers drove to Richet’s house on Friday around 8 a.m. and took him to the police station, past two fire trucks parked in front of Municipal Hall, their ladders extended, with a large American flag held up by a breeze. It was all for Richet.

They parked and he addressed his staff lined up in the Municipal Hall parking lot.

He praised them, saying that he appreciated all that they have done. He spoke to his command staff: “Lt. Clowser, Lt. Dillon, Lt. Crescitelli, you make me look good,” he said, smiling.

He said that a lot of people have asked him what he will do after he leaves. That has not been decided yet, in this career shift that for him is “bittersweet.” “Police work is all I know,” he said.
