Police Investigate Two Sept. 23 Shootings

Norristown police are investigating two shootings from Sept. 23, with no injuries or arrests made at this time, say police.

The first shooting occurred around Main Street and Pearl Street at around 5:30 p.m. Officers responded and began combing the area, say police.

The second shooting happened around the 800 block of Haws Avenue area around 11 p.m., police say.

According to a police report, one man told police that he had heard gunshots around the area of Haws Avenue and Beech Streets, and that he had seen two tall, African American men chasing and shooting at each other, who ran south on the 800 block of Haws.

The man told police that one man wore pants that were a light color, and a blue top, while the other man wore all black, say police.

Police spoke to another man who said that the shooting happened on the 800 block of Beech Street, according to the report. The second man provided the same description of the men as the first man, but the second man told them that the man who wore lighter colored clothes wore a white shirt and khaki pants, say police.

Police found 12 used Hominy 9mm cartridges at the intersection of Beech Street and Stanbridge Street until the 800 block of Beech Street, according to the report.

There was a woman who told police that she had heard shots around the 800 block of Chain Street, and that she had seen an African American man, who looked like he had been shot in his side, go into a residence on that block of Chain Street, police say. Police officers were able to go inside of the residence, where they found four African American men, none of who looked injured, say police.
