Police Investigating Sunday Night Death of Norristown Man

Randy "Bobcat" Williams was discovered injured late Sunday night in Norristown and later declared dead.

According to Norristown Police Chief Russel Bono, police are investigating the death of a Norristown man that occurred in the 100 block of East Marshall Street just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Family members of Randy "Bobcat" Williams gathered at the police station Monday morning to get answers in what they believe was an assault that led to his death. Rumors of the alleged beating had spread through the community overnight.

"It was not an assault according to the report," said Chief Bono. "We're certainly going to investigate it. It's a death under suspicious circumstances."

According to Chief Bono, only one witness gave information to police and that witness reported seeing Williams walking up the street in the area of the 100 block of East Marshall Street where he stumbled and fell. The witness reportedly saw no assault. Police say they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

"We are investigating it," said Chief Bono. "There's a detective assigned to the case [and] there's going to be an autopsy to determine a cause of death, if possible."
