Driver Arrested After Vehicle Strikes House on Hamilton Street

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 500 block of of Hamilton Street in Norristown after a vehicle reportedly drove into a home on Monday night.

The crash occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m., near the intersection of Hamilton Street and Oakwood Avenue, according to MontCo DPS. Dispatch reports indicate that the driver was still in the vehicle and was possibly intoxicated, but police could not comment due to the incident being under investigation, according to reports.

A nearby parked car was also struck by the driver.

According to PA Driver Watch, emergency crews were dispatched to rescue the driver from the dark colored, four door Audi sedan around 9:37 p.m., however, by the time crews arrived to the scene, the driver had already freed himself, according to reports. 

The driver was then arrested on scene. No injuries were reported. The home sustained a partially collapsed porch, but members of the Norristown Fire Department were able to use support beams to reinforce the structure, according to the Times Herald.

This incident occurred less than 30 minutes after crews were sent to Swede Road and Norris City Avenue for a report of an overturned vehicle that was on fire. To read more about that incident, click here.
