Seven Homes Condemned, Numerous Residents Displaced Following Willow Street Fire

Seven buildings have been condemned and 21 residents have been displaced as a result of Tuesday's two-alarm fire. Additionally, six firefighters were treated for minor injuries, according to reports.

In the wake of Tuesday's two-alarm fire, Norristown officials have condemned seven homes on the 1000 block of Willow Street.

The fire began shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, when a roofer who was working with a blow torch came into contact with a combustable material, according to a source. The fire then quickly spread across the rooftops, escalating to a two-alarm blaze minutes after 3 p.m.

A total of seven homes were damaged by the fire, and four of them could potentially be deemed as total losses, according to the Times Herald. Additionally, six firefighters were treated for minor injuries, the report states.
Though no other injuries were reported, 21 residents – 13 adults and eight children – were displaced by the fire, according to Dave Schrader at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross. Schrader added that all displaced residents have been given food, clothing and lodging, courtesy of the Red Cross.
