The Pottstown Mercury reports that 22-year-old Daniel Mungin of Spring City pleaded guilty on Thursday, Aug. 9, in Montgomery County Court to a series of armed robberies that he committed in June 2011.
Mungin and an accomplice, 20-year-old Kyle Weikel of Royersford, were arrested by several eyewitnesses.
Clerks in each store reported that a man wearing a hockey mask and brandishing a large knife or machete demanded money and stole lighters and cigarettes from the stores.
from June 2011, Mungin was arrested at a Pottstown 7-Eleven by Pottstown police, who then found Weikel in a red Honda Civic behind the store. A hockey mask and machete were found in the car with Weikel, along with items that were stolen from the stores.
Stores robbed by Mungin and Weikel included three 7-Elevens: one on South Lewis Road in Royersford, one on Main Street in West Norriton and one on High Street in Pottstown. The two men also robbed the Sunoco at Routes 100 and 23 in South Coventry Township.
Mungin was charged with multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy, theft and drug possession. He is currently awaiting sentencing in Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville.
Weikel pleaded guilty in February to similar charges. He was sentenced to two to four years in prison and ten years' probation.
