Stabbing in West End Under Investigation

A fight outside a local bar sent one man to the hospital with lacerations from a box cutter.

According to reports from the Norristown Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Sunset Grill at George and Elm streets in the West End at approximately 9:21 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, for a report of a fight outside the bar. The call was upgraded to a stabbing while officers were en route.

On the scene, officers encountered the victim, a black male who told police he was arguing with two women outside of the bar when a man the victim is familiar with but whom he could not identify yelled, "Get this faggot out of here!" The unidentified man then allegedly pulled out a box cutter and attacked the victim with it.

Several witnesses on the scene were reportedly interviewed by police, but none could identify the attacker. The victim was transported by ambulance to Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in East Norriton.

The unidentified man was described as a black male, 6' tall and weighing 215 lbs. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket, blue jeans and a black hat.
