UPDATE: Norristown Woman Dies After West Norriton Vehicle Crash

Any witnesses are asked to contact police.

West Norriton police told Patch that they are investigating a fatal vehicle accident that occurred around 3:10 p.m. on Friday at Chestnut and Burnside Avenues, which claimed the life of a Norristown woman. 

The burgundy-colored Pontiac Grand Am driven by the deceased supposedly drove through a stop sign on Chestnut Avenue and was hit by a straight truck, according to The Times Herald.

The driver, Stacy M. Leonard of the 700 block of Lafayette Street, died from her injuries at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, police told Patch.

Two passengers in the Grand Am were taken to hospitals, as well.

Sherrylle Johnson of 700 block of Chain Street in Norristown was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Alan Laffredo of the 00 block of Bittersweet Court in Norristown was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown.

The truck driver, Thomas M. Panetta of the 1100 block of West Washington Street in Norristown, suffered no injuries and is complying with the investigation, according to police.

Anyone who may have witnesses the accident is asked to call the West Norriton Township Police Department at 610-630-1701.

HEADLINE: Three Taken to Hospital After Vehicle Crash in West Norriton

Police, fire department personnel and rescue workers arrived at the scene of a vehicle crash site at Chestnut Avenue and Burnside Avenue in West Norriton on Friday, according to The Times Herald.

Around 3 p.m. a burgundy-colored Pontiac Grand Am supposedly drove through a stop sign on Chestnut Avenue and was hit by a straight truck.

Three people inside of the Pontiac were taken via ambulance to the hospital.

The West Norriton Police Department, Norristown Fire Department, Jefferson Fire Company and Norriton Fire Engine Company responded to the incident.

Norristown Fire Chief Thomas O’Donnell confirmed to Patch that the Norristown Fire Department arrived and was able to help at the scene.
