Victim Testifies Against Brother-in-Law in Alleged Kidnapping and Torture Case

Twenty five-year-old Rayon Scarlett is accused of kidnapping and assaulting his brother-in-law in retribution for cooperating with police in a previous investigation into Scarlett's alleged criminal activity.

According to The Times Herald, Khanneil Headley took the stand Thursday morning, Jan. 10, to testify against Rayon Scarlett, the brother of his estranged wife and the mother of the couple's two children, Kemara Scarlett.

Scarlett is reportedly being charged with kidnapping, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint and theft in connection with a March 2008 incident in which authorities say he and three other men showed up at Headley's apartment, held him at gunpoint, tied him up and threatened to get "rid of him" in retribution for Headley's cooperation with police in a previous investigation into alleged drug- and gun-related crimes.
