Woman Gets 23 Months for Stealing Purse for Drugs, Finds $2

A Souderton woman admitted to stealing a purse at a ShopRite in East Norriton to fuel her drug addiction.

She ended up stealing $2, and now has to pay back $217, per The Intelligencer.

Kristen Apple, 36, of Eighth Street, received a 23-month maximum prison sentence for her crime, according to the report. Time served prior to sentencing was five weeks.

Apple stole a woman’s Vera Bradley purse, ran out of the store and fled in a silver Mustang on Jan. 26, 2013, police said.

Apple found only $2 and dumped the purse and its contents—including a makeup bag, cell phone and credit cards, totaling $217 in value—out the car window, police said.

Apple turned herself in on Jan. 30.
