Woman Observes Her Home Door Lock Being Opened From Outside, Say Police

A Norristown woman observed her door being opened and looked through the peephole to see a man trying to push the door open, according to a police report.

A Norristown woman was in her home when she looked through her door peephole to see a man trying to force his way into her residence, say police.

On Oct. 16 Norristown police traveled to the 700 block of Sandy Street around 12:15 p.m. to see about the alleged attempted burglary, according to a Norristown police report.

The resident told police that, while she was at home between 6 and 7 a.m., she observed her doorknob and deadbolt being opened from outside of her residence, say police.

She told police that she looked through the peephole to see an African American wearing a navy blue jacket who appeared to be about 5’5” tall, according to the report. The man tried pushing the door open but a chain lock prevented him from doing so, say police. The victim locked the door, called her daughter, and then called 911, according to the report.
