Woman Pulled From River by West Norriton Police and Jefferson Fire Chief

West Norriton police originally received a call about a body in the river.

On Friday, around 11:20 a.m., after receiving a report of a body in the Schuylkill river, West Norriton Police went to the unit block of East Indian Lane in West Norriton to investigate and help.

According to West Norriton police, as they traveled to the scene, they were told that the person was a woman, and that she was supposedly conscious.

Police arrived and saw the woman some feet from the bank. Police corporal Robert Scotti and officer Joseph Natalini, as well as Jefferson Fire Company chief John Bergstasser, entered the water and used a piece of bamboo to reach out to the woman.

She held onto the bamboo and the men pulled her to the bank of the river.

Plymouth Ambulance staff gave her medical treatment and took her to Mercy Suburban Hospital. As of Friday afternoon, her condition is unknown.
