Woman Run Over by Her Own Car

A woman who tried to exit her car while it was still in gear was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained in the accident.

An incident that was originally reported mystifyingly as a pedestrian struck after falling out of a moving vehicle in East Norriton on Wednesday afternoon turned out to be an easily explained accident, and yet, still somewhat bizarre.

According to a report from the East Norriton Police Department, officers responded to the Norristown Car Wash at 10 East Germantown Pike shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 for a report of a pedestrian struck.

On the scene, an officer met the victim who stated she was exiting her vehicle in the parking lot of the car wash and had accidentally failed to put the vehicle in park. She reportedly told police the vehicle was in reverse, and as she attempted to get back in to the vehicle, she apparently fell and the front driver's side tire ran over both of her legs.
