Castor Starts New Website, Spurs More Governor Race Speculation

A new website has many guessing at Bruce Castor's intent come the 2014 Pennsylvania governor race.

He's got a spiffy new site, and it surely doesn't seem to just be about Montgomery County.

Current Republican Minority Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor has launched a new website, brucecastor.com, and from its logo of the state of Pennsylvania to its contents encompassing every topic from his biography to a donation contribution page, the site has many guessing it may be one of the first steps toward a candidacy in the 2014 governor race.

Patch began reporting about the speculations of possible candidacy back in December of 2012 with a report outlining his history. Should Castor make a run at the ticket, it would not be the first time he's competed against current Gov. Tom Corbett.

"Corbett and Castor have a storied history, including a 2004 Republican primary race for Attorney General," said a December Patch report. "The Republican State Committee endorsed Corbett for the post and Castor ran a grassroots campaign throughout the state, losing the nomination by five points."

PoliticsPA.com noticed the new site. It called his creation a "move" in that direction.

"I will press the Legislature to break the Iron Triangle by restoring the legislative branch to the part-time, term limited body that our founding fathers created," reads the Castor website. The phrase was cited on Politics PA as just one "hint" at the run.

The site also includes a link the PCN interview in which Castor called his interest an increase from "sticking his toe" in the waters of the race to then (Jan. 22) being "more up to the ankles."

In a Patch report on Jan. 23, Castor said "I want Pennsylvania to be a conservative state, but with pragmatism and practicality. I don't see those things happening, but I'm watching." He also noted he would not just run to "make a splash."

Castor has lived all of his life in Montgomery County, and still resides in Lower Salford with his wife and two children. What will the future bring for the now 51-year-old commissioner?

Perhaps more will be revealed at a March 27 dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Blue Bell-based Philadelphia Aviation Country Club will play host to the $125-per-plate fundraising dinner held by the Friends of Bruce Castor.

For now, intrigued voters can monitor Castor's "Vision" by checking his live website, which seems to speak much more about the state than the county.

Yeah I really believe all the Times Herald reporting but, some young girl out of college could figure out Hoeffel, Matthews and the other creep were meeting at the Jem but Castor was too sharp to figure it out. What the hell did Corbett do to you? Did Sandusky get convicted? Or wasn't there enough showboating and style points by Corbett to make you happy? The less I hear about government (Silent Tom as opposed to Cheesesteak "in your face Eagles color man" Ed) interfering my life the better. Besides, Obama is yapping about something every day like a Jack Russel Terrier.

from PoliticsPA Corbett leads hypothetical Republican primary challenger Bruce Castor, a Montgomery County Commissioner, 43% to 23% in this poll. That’s a 20 point move in Castor’s favor since PPP’s January survey, when he trailed 51% to 11%. A politician exposed by investigative journalists for telling the truth and never selling out taxpayers. Seems like word is spreading.

Huh most Dems are very upset about Corbett's fiscal conservativeness and budget cuts in PA, so it is interesting that you are upset about Republicans spending?

Jack I would vote for for anyone before I would ever for for Allyson Schwartz. John Street, Milton Street, Man on the Street, Hugo Chavez (in or out of his current residence) The idiots on this board should be campaigning for Corbett so in 6 years they can get their new Governess Kathleen Kane. It is pretty transparent what she in angling for. With a pocket full of viagra, Bill Clinton will be here all the time campaigning for her while Hillary is busy looking for the first Dude.
