Christmas Tree Pickups Start Next Week

With the holidays winding down, the municipality has scheduled Christmas tree pick-ups starting Jan. 14.

According to the Municipality of Norristown, Christmas trees will be collected starting Jan. 14 on your neighborhood's yard waste day. Trees must be clear of any ornaments or decorations and must not be placed in plastic bags. Contact the municipality at 610-272-8080 for more information.

Or, if you're interested in helping Jersey Shore beaches ravaged by Hurrican Sandy, your tree can be used to help rebuild the dunes through an Island Beach State Park program. The program uses discarded Christmas trees in several specific locations on the island in order to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of protecting the dunes.

Trees for the program are being collected at Shady Brook Farms in Yardley. Read more about the program here.
