Crews Upgrading Sewer Lines Along Buttonwood Street

The repairs will help with rainwater runoff and preventing sewer main backups.

According to the Norristown Municipal Waste Authority, two construction contracts were awarded for sewer repairs on portions of East Basin, Violet and Buttonwood streets this fall. The improvements are intended to reduce the amount of rainwater entering the sanitary sewer system and in turn help prevent sewer main backups.

Work has reportedly already been completed on East Basin and Violet streets and is currently underway in the 500 block of Buttonwood Street. Residents can expect a continued disruption of traffic and parking for the next few weeks.

Construction crews are currently replacing sewer mains on the west side of the 500 block of Buttonwood Street between Airy Street and Marshall Street.
