Democratic Committee Recommends Judicial Candidates

Steve Tolliver, of Cheltenham, and Gail Weilheimer, of Abington, are being recommended by a Democratic committee to be that party's candidates for the county Court of Common Pleas this election season.

The Montgomery County Democratic Committee (MCDC) announced its recommendations on Wednesday for candidates for Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in the 2013 election. A judicial screening committee has selected Steve Tolliver, of Cheltenham, and Gail Weilheimer, of Abington, as potential party candidates. The candidates are expected to be officially endorsed at the county's endorsement convention on Feb. 28.

Despite the recommendations, the MCDC welcomes all potential candidates to attend either the Feb 21. County Party Executive Committee meeting or the Feb. 28 convention to present their qualifications and request consideration for party endorsement.

"Time and again the process of appointing a screening committee to interview candidates has spelled success for our organization," Chairman Marcel Groen stated in a recent release about the recommendations. "The committee interviewed many well-qualified candidates for the two positions and I believe the screening committee's work was fair and deliberate."
