The House Consumer Affairs Committee will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m., at the West Norriton Township Building, 1630 West Marshall St. in Jeffersonville

The purpose of this hearing is to discuss the water treatment issues the Norristown Water Treatment Plant and PA American Water Company experienced during the period from May 20-24.

The House Consumer Affairs Committee considers issues related to a number of Pennsylvania industries and entities, including natural gas, electric and water utilities; the telecommunications and cable industries, the Public Utility Commission as well as consumer-related legislation.

As secretary of this committee, I hope to gain knowledge as to what transpired during this period and find solutions to make sure such an incident doesn’t happen again. Public hearings such as this one help to formulate those solutions.

Please join me on Tuesday to learn more about what caused this incident to occur. Any consumer who wishes to provide a written statement for inclusion in the hearing record, may do so by sending them to Chairman Robert Godshall’s office at 1702 Cowpath Road, Hatfield, PA 19440 in advance of the hearing or by bringing written comments to the hearing.
