In Finance Director Zawisza’s Absence, Other Staff Appointed Municipal Tax Collector

The Norristown Municipal Council voted at their Tuesday night meeting to appoint Rochelle E. Rawlins, Assistant Director of Finance, to the Police and Fire Pension Boards, and as the Municipal Tax Collector, where she will be replacing Richard Zawisza, Norristown’s Finance Director who went on paid administrative leave in November.

Rawlins began to head the finance department in Zawisza’s absence in November.

After the meeting, Municipal Administrator Crandall O. Jones expressed confidence in Rawlins, adding that there is work to be done. “We are in negotiations and discussion with the Pension Boards,” he said.”

Jones was mum about Zawisza and the future of the Finance Director position, indicating that it is still a personnel issue. “There is nothing to comment on,” he said politely.
