Is Philly to NYC in 37 Minutes Worth $151 Billion?

There is already multiple trains going to NYC (Acela, regular). Instead of transportation to a city that is already established, how about more money being spent on other forms of mass transit alleviating the daily traffic congestion. $151 billion can be better spent in more effective alternatives. <Linda Spreeman, King of Prussia>

While there are homeless and hungry people still on Philly streets, think that's where the dollars would be better invested.

No! See CA and their silly hi speed project. CA is more than broke do we want that for us. Better a monorail or such along the Surekill expway and #422 to Berks Cty. Or 476 from Lehigh Cty to Wltn DE?

There's not enough ridership to warrant any extra train routes in the suburbs. A train from Philly to Reading won't do any good. A train from Norristown to Allentown, which used to exist, is not necessary. What we need is connecting bus service from pottstown to reading that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We need connections to the Lehigh Valley that don't go through Philly. We need public transit options that everyone can use to go more places to find jobs and such. Reading is 20 minutes away from Pottstown, but I can't find a job there unless I have a car. Public transit around Philly is really good, but frankly, I think this Amtrak like is necessary. The Accella failed because it was still running on all the old tracks used by the slower trains. bullet trains are the past and future, but have never made a big impact here in the Northeast because of how congested development is. I applaud Amtrak finally putting something in the works to get more jobs and more accessability throughout the region. Now if Septa and other suburban transit agencies could get their act together and do something to make some of the other areas, such as Reading or Allentown, much more accessible, I'd be happier.

Is it worth 151 billion? Sure is. I am an entrepeneur and my time for doing travel or anything not work related or work related is a very small window. If I can travel from Philly to New York City in 37 minutes, then sign me up.I work over 14 hours a day. That would be a service I would most definitely utilize.Currently I do not use the train to go to New York but if you can get me there in 37 minutes,well needless to say, Amtrak would get themselves a new customer and rider. My two cents are courtesy of your friendly neighborhood barber.
