UPDATED: Montco Commissioners Shapiro and Richards Take to Courthouse Steps to Stump for Obama

Presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will square off tonight in the third and final presidential debate, this time on foreign policy. The rhetoric is expected to be heated, and most polls have the candidates in a dead heat following their earlier sparring matches. 

Montgomery County Commissioners Josh Shapiro and Leslie Richards took to the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse to vocie support their party's standard bearing, President Obama. The commissioners told those in attendance that when it comes to foreign policy, the president has the experience and the record needed to lead our country for the next four years.

"We are electing a commander-in-chief, someone who will keep America safe," Shapiro said. "All Mitt Romney has proven in this campaign is that he wants to politicize the issue of foreign policy. He is absolutely ill-equipped and inept when it comes to dealing with the serious foreign policy issues of this moment."

Republican Commissioner Bruce Castor emailed Patch with a response to his fellow commissioners.

"I respect my fellow commissioners very much," wrote Castor. "We are governing the county with fiscal restraint. Just the way Romney/Ryan will. But I admire loyalty."

According to PhillyBurbs.com, the Romney campaign issued the following statement about tonight's impending debate:

"Voters will have the opportunity to hear how Gov. Romney will lead the United States. Under Mitt Romney’s leadership, no friend of America will question our commitment to support them, no enemy that attacks America will question our resolve to defeat them and no one anywhere, friend or foe, will doubt America’s capability to back up our words."
