Norristown Finance Director 'On Leave,' Escorted From Building

Richard Zawisza has been Norristown's finance director since 2010.

A Norristown police officer escorted Norristown Borough Finance Director Richard Zawisza, who is now reportedly on leave, out of municipal hall.

Zawisza has served as Norristown’s Finance Director since 2010.

The Times Herald reported that Norristown’s new Municipal Administrator, Crandall Jones, asked for the police escort on Nov. 7. Jones said that Zawisza was “on vacation” and did not comment on what he referred to as “personnel matters.”

Councilwoman Linda Christian said that Zawisza was not fired but “on leave,” and they would soon know more.

Christian added that borough council has the power to hire and fire employees, and has not been asked to do so in Zawisza’s case.

Norristown police told Patch that they did not arrest Zawisza, and a representative at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office indicated this week that he did not have information regarding any action related to the incident.

As of Thursday, a representative of the FBI indicated the same.

A LinkedIn account representing an individual named Richard Zawisza still indicates that that he is still the Finance Director in Norristown.
