Residents Turn Out to Hear Plans for Markley Street Improvement Project

PennDOT hosted a public information meeting at Eisenhower Middle School on Thursday night.

According to The Times Herald, a number of residents and municipal officials turned out Thursday night at Eisenhower Middle School to hear PennDOT's plans for the Markley Street Improvement Project. Reconstruction on the busy road is scheduled to begin this spring.

Parking, bus routes changes, new sidewalks and the effects of the construction on local businesses were just some of the issues reportedly raised by those attending the meeting.

Yes, Markley street needs to be repaired. But I think that trying to street scape and beautify the area is a waste of money. No one will really care if we have pretty things such as fancy lighting or fancy curbs when the crime rate keeps people away or indoors.Making bump outs in the curbing is dangerous. How is the street going to be cleaned and plowed if there is not a straight curb. I have seen the trash building up at the base of newly planted trees.Norristown need to make more parking not less.
