Two Norristown Firefighters Honored with Valor Awards at Tonight's Council Meeting

Firefighters Robert Myers and Andrew Pyles are being recognized for their part in a recent rescue from burning home in West Norriton.

Norristown Municipal Council meets again tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Norristown Municipal Hall at 235 East Airy Street. Among the items in the agenda for tonight's meeting is the award of valor commendations for two local firefighters for their role in a recent rescue of two residents from a burning home in West Norriton in January.

Norristown firefighters assisted Jefferson Fire Company in West Norriton in a house fire on the 1400 block of Sterigere Street in the early morning hours of Jan. 19. Early on the scene, firefighters Robert Myers and Andrew Pyles reportedly entered the burning building to rescue a woman trapped inside. hospital. Myers and Pyles will be awarded commendations fr their efforts at tonight's meeting. Members of Cavello's family are expected to attend.

Also on the agenda for tonight are a zoning review of development plans for 45 East DeKalb Street and approvals of roadway lighting and detention basin maintenance agreements.
