Valley Forge Protestors Hit the Trail

Many want an end to Obamacare, some just want the national parks re-opened.

Written by Bob Byrne

Hundreds of veterans, motorcyclists, seniors, families took to the paved trail between the (private) Washington Memorial Chapel and the (Federally owned and shut down) Visitors Center in Valley Forge National Historical Park on Sunday.

Protestors walked the trail and rallied outside the closed visitors center to protest the Obama Administration's decision to close public parks during the government funding debate which will begin its third week Tuesday if there is no resolution Monday evening.

It was the second of two protests Sunday in the park.  Hundreds of runners ran along literal boundary line between state and federally controlled property along state roads in the park.

What do you think?

  • Has the shutdown gone on long enough or is it a fight worth having and who do you blame for the shutdown?
