West Norriton to Review Traffic Study for Proposed Development at Former Gateway Diner Site

West Norriton Planning Commission will review the study and site plans at its Jan. 21 meeting.

According to West Norriton's website, the West Norriton Planning Commission will be reviewing the proposed development at the former Gateway Diner site at West Ridge Pike and Trooper Road in West Norriton on Monday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

According to The Times Herald, a traffic study prepared by Pottstown-based Traffic Planning and Design found that the proposed Wawa, Citadel Bank and additional retail space will result in:

  • 97 new weekday morning auto trips during peak hours,
  • 115 new weekday evening trips during peak hours, and
  • 95 new Saturday midday trips during peak hours.

"[West Norriton Traffic Engineer Andy Heinrich] has some questions about the traffic numbers for the retail building," West Norriton Township Manager Jason Bobst told the Herald. "They have not decided what the retail uses will be. Three separate uses are expected for the retail building. Andy asked them to go back and look at some additional traffic numbers."
