Eisenhower Robotics Team Gets Approval From School Board

The board voted Monday night to approve the team's travel plan.

According to The Times Herald, the Norristown Area School Board approved the travel plans for the four members of the Robotics Team and their two chaperones to attend the 2012 VEX Robotics World Competition in California in April.

The team and their captain, School District Instructional Technology Directory Beth Roth, had spent last week frantically fundraising for the effort and given the . 

Parents, district employees and other supporters were eager to donate to the cause. Anne Marie Rohricht, the district's chief financial officer, told The Herald that school district employees and others in the community contributed $2,410 last week. District PR Manager Nan Odenthal released information about an anonymous donor who agreed to contribute the $7,700 the team needed. Even Dominic Conicelli Sr., who recently contributed $25,000 to the Norristown Bicentennial Committee, pledged $4,000 to the team.

It's unclear which funding source the team will be taking advantage of.

In other district business, the school board approved agreements on new health-care coverage and reclassified some substitutes to satisfy the teachers' union.
