Flu Outbreak Hits Norristown Area High School

School nurses have been sending home information about hand washing and sanitizing best practices in an effort to stem the spread of the flu.

According to NBC10, the recent flu outbreak in our area is hitting Norristown Area High School pretty hard. School nurses say the infirmary is a high-traffic area these days.

"We’ve just been seeing students from the beginning of school to the end," Norristown School Nurse Coordinator Giselle Knoblauch told NBC.

Nurses have reportedly been talking to students about proper hand washing and sanitizing and even the best way to cover a sneeze or a cough in an effort to stop the spread of the disease. They're even sending info home to parents.

According to NBC10, there have been 23 flu deaths in Pennsylvania so far this season and New Jersey has reported the death of an Ocean City teen and an 8-month-old baby from Camden.
