Norristown Area Education Foundation Reschedules Mardi Gras Fundraiser

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy causing Norristown to reschedule Halloween for this Saturday, the NAEF has rescheduled it's annual fundraiser for Saturday, Nov. 17.

The Norristown Area Education Foundation's annual Mardi Gras Dinner Dance Fundraiser originally scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed and will be held this Saturday, Nov. 3 from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at Westover Country Club, 401 South Schuylkill Avenue in Jeffersonville. The event raises money to support programs throughout the Norristown Area School District.

"All money raised stays right here in the district and benefits our students directly," said E. Pearl Smith, School Board and Mardi Gras Committee member, in a recent press release.

All proceeds will be used to support and expand projects that the Norristown Area Education Foundation currently fund, including Smart Boards for NASD classrooms, a Mac computer lab at Norristown Area High School and the Robotics program across the District. The Foundation also provides small mini grants to teachers for innovative projects inside the classroom.

The Mission of the Norristown Area Education Foundation (NAEF) is to provide independent financial funding to support challenging and enriching innovations that will maximize the learning potential of all students in the Norristown Area School District.

Renee Golden, Event Chair and NAEF Board Member said, "Please come prepared to eat heartily and have loads of fun, all while supporting education. Food stations set up around the ballroom will satisfy every appetite. Both a silent and live auction is planned; a variety of gift baskets, sports memorabilia, and a vacation package to Disney World are among the hot items ready to be taken home by the highest bidder. There will be no shortage of merriment on or off the dance floor. Our event is business casual and Mardi Gras accessories are encouraged!"

The ticket price is very affordable at $50 per person, but it’s even more affordable and more enjoyable when supporters gather parties of 10 from among family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors and purchase a table of 10 for $450.

NAEF is still accepting donations of auction items, program book ads and event sponsorship. Various levels of contribution are available and your kind and generous donations are tax deductible.
