School Board, Residents Debate Name for the New Athletic Complex

The board needs to make it official next week in time to order a sign for the expected spring opening.

According to The Times Herald, the Norristown Area School District and area residents debated this week over a name for the much-anticipated new athletic complex under construction at Norristown Area High School.

Suggestions for the name ran from honoring local athletic heroes like Norristown native and NAHS graduate Joshua Culbreath, who took a bronze medal in the 1956 Olympic Games and set world records world records for hurdles in 1956 and 1957, to something as simple as "Eagle Complex." Consensus was reportedly come to with "Norristown Area High School Athletic Complex."

The name will go up for approval at the Feb. 27 meeting. A name for the actual field will be decided on at a later date.
