Upper Merion Expected to Name New School Superintendent on Monday

Board members have not commented publicly on whether acting superintendent Jane Callaghan will take over the post.

According to The Times Herald, Upper Merion Area School District will vote on a new superintendent at their next meeting on Monday, Dec. 3.

Former superintendent Melissa Jamula reportedly announced her retirement in June and officially retired Sept. 3. Since then, UM's assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, Jane Callaghan, has served as acting superintendent.

The board was reportedly caught off guard by Jamula's June announcement and felt that three months wasn't enough time to mount an adequate search.
