Older adults are more susceptible to heat related ailments than younger individuals. With that in mind Montco SAAC welcomes new participants to the center, especially those without adequate air-conditioning.
"We will be maintaining our regularly scheduled activities but will also offer games and activities in the dining room and other air-conditioned portions of the building," announced Pat MacKenzie, Program Director for Montco SAAC. It is important for older adults to stay cool and hydrated during extremely hot weather, so come visit with our members and staff and avoid the hottest part of the day!"
Thursday and Friday activities include line dancing, a seminar on the shingles vaccine, Zumba and a nutrition class for persons with pre diabetes called "Mission Possible." Scrabble, Bunco, Bingo and Rummikub games are also available. Lunch is provided for a small contribution to underwrite the cost of the meals.
"You don’t have to be a member to come in and try us out. We just want to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable," said Ms. MacKenzie.
