Greater Norristown PAL’s Plans For MLK Day of Service on Jan. 20

Volunteers can sign up to participate at the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League or their sister sites.

The Greater Norristown Police Athletic League (GNPAL) has released the plans and schedule for their annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Day of Service, on Jan. 20, which will be an opportunity to honor King’s dream.

The day will allow volunteers to give back to the community.

The day will begin with a “kick-off breakfast” from 7-9 a.m. at GNPAL, located at 340 Harding Boulevard in Norristown, followed by project work and a discussion, according to Kenneth Fennal, GNPAL’s program director.

Volunteers can sign up now for various community service projects for that day, which will take place between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the following sites:

-Central Montgomery MH/MR

-Elmwood Park Zoo

-The Willow School

-Montgomery Hose Company Fire House

-Norristown Ministries Hospitality Center

-Roosevelt Campus High School

-Stewart Middle School

-Theater Horizon

-Abington High School

After the kick-off breakfast, volunteers will participate in community projects from 9-11:45 a.m.,  and then a lunch and discussion from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. From there, the projects will be completed from 1-3 p.m.
