Norristown Rotary Presents $10,500 to Advocates Against Hunger

The check presentation was part of the Rotary Club of Norristown's continuing efforts to supports organizations serving the greater Norristown community.

As part of its continuing efforts to support organizations serving the greater Norristown community, the Rotary Club of Norristown presented a check for $10,500 to Advocates Against Hunger, a Norristown volunteer group that assists those agencies and groups that fight hunger in the local area.

Advocates Against Hunger has as their purpose:

”To promote community dialogue on hunger and nutrition in the Norristown area with the purpose of sustaining and improving delivery of food and nutrition to the poor, educating the community, increasing participation of volunteer population and increasing resources.”

The Montgomery County Foundation, Inc. convenes and sponsors the group of volunteers and maintains a Fund at the Foundation for them.

The donation, presented at the Rotary weekly luncheon meeting on May 16, represents the proceeds for the Norristown Rotary’s annual fundraising pancake breakfast and silent auction, which was held on Saturday, April 6.

Norristown Rotary president Jack Rule presented the donation to Kary and Nanette LaFors, who represented Advocates Against Hunger.

Rotary International is the world’s first service club organization with more than 1.2-million members worldwide. The Rotary Club of Norristown is one of 33,000 clubs worldwide.  Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace and eradicate polio under the motto “Service Above Self”.
