Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Events, Girls' Art Event This Week

A look at a few of the events this week in the Norristown area.

Monday: the Norristown Recreation Committee’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream” Awards Ceremony will be held at Norristown’s Municipal Hall at 6 p.m., where community volunteers who have gone above and beyond will be honored for their good works.

Monday: the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is offering free admission on Monday (though a donation is appreciated)

Monday: do you feel like visiting a park on Martin Luther King, Jr. day? Simmons park, in the heart of Norristown, has a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial. The park is located at 328 East Oak Street.

Monday: the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library in Norristown is hosting a Martin Luther King, Jr. drop-in craft day where children aged 5-12 years can stop by to decorate a fabric square that will later become part of quilts for hospitalized children. From 9 a.m. on.  

Thursday: the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library in Norristown is holding their ‘Toddler Tickle Tales,” where children ages 2-4 can stop by with a caregiver at 10:30 a.m. for songs, stories and games.

Saturday: the ACPPA Community Art Center in Norristown is hosting ‘Keeping it Klassy,” an event for girls in fourth and fifth grades where they can learn about helping to lead their communities through art, and their old self-esteem. RSVP required. It begins at 1:30 p.m.
