What's worse? Throwing away the winning ticket? or everybody KNOWING that I threw away the winningRead More ticket? Reminds me of the dumb joke about the old man who went to church every day to pray to win the lottery... after years of constant prayer day in and day out finally a voice came from out of the sky commanding him: "You Gotta Buy A Ticket!!" Or in this case the punch line would be: "Don't Throw Away The Ticket!!"

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

Its amazing how many young people text when they really have so little to nothing to actually say!Read More And ironically in spite of all the texts and sexts and pic sharing, teens today are more anti-social than really at any time in society. They will bury their faces in their phones to exchange 'heys' with people across town or thousands of miles away yet totally intentionally ignore all living breathing human beings sitting/standing next to them.. Such a lost generation and most haven't even hit legal drinking age.

some of us paid attention in science class and were taught what a red moon , eclipse, etc are.Read More guess most of our new writers of the media, in general, are outcome based education grads, aka (common core). But to understand what signs from the heavens are showing with eyes open? genesko, my heart goes out to you. I've done most of this on my own. Until someone actually has aRead More child with a disability, they will never truly understand. I can respect that. Had my son not had the stroke, and the severity of the Autism did not subside, I don't know how I would of made it. CHOP Neurological never could explain how the severity subsided. Just Luck. A trade off if you will. My Son drives, yes, but sometimes his emotions overwhelm him. He has learned how to recognize that, and he knows to call me first. But the Joys are great. He can read other's clues for social interaction, and he is always improving there. But again, a lot of work at home was required. I know depending on the severity of the situation, it may never improve. Regarding the group homes, you are right. 20 year waiting list. I'm reminded of my Late Dad's best friend who's oldest son is Autistic. He is now about 57, living in a home. He was lucky. His parents were very upper middle class. They were able to afford what was needed and was able to see to it. Unfortunately today, many of us cannot earn the incomes of our parents with the health benefits that they had. The best advice I can give you, which I am certain that you know, is to keep your children close. Raise them to appreciate and love each other. So as we go to the great beyond, we may hope our disabled children will still be loved and looked after by their siblings. A burden their brother's and sisters never asked for. But a love and appreciation of life and for life, that perhaps most in our country today seem to lack.

Now Read This: ...the Louisiana Senate race will be a test of the old proposition that elections areRead More won by bringing home the bacon, and Landrieu has always argued that she "delivers" In the coming campaign she'll cite the millions and millions of federal dollars she has brought to the state like it's no accident that St. Tammany Parish is feeling a lot of Landrieu love these days. "The St. Tammany Parish school district is getting $67.8 million in disaster loans and accumulated interest for Hurricane Katrina forgiven by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Sen. Mary Landrieu's office announced Monday. The announcement follows FEMA's earlier decision to cancel a $9.9 million loan for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office and a $14.5 million loan to the St. Tammany Parish government." Landrieu, it turns out, inserted a loan forgiveness provision into the 2013 Homeland Security Appropriations bill -- a move that will likely mean future forgiveness for even more Katrina loans. Remember her when you get your flood insurance bill to pay for all those forgiven Katrina loans...

@Mike Lowe Precisely, Mike. We forget about all the good these plants have done, and in fact stillRead More do. And could do if we let them. All the good jobs provided to Americans, the energy supplied, the research done, etc. Giving up on developing and building Nuclear Power Plants could turn out to be one of the bigger mistakes of late 20th century America.

Tesla anyone? How about Solar Panels, Wind Power? All free energy, all safe but don't tell the powerRead More companies who make money off your own ignorance that! No more money for gas and electric, imagine that!??
John G. Lewis April 7, 2014 at 12:41 pm
@shawnautumn Solar Panels are a very limited, relatively high cost, way of accruing power, at leastRead More at this point. (The best I understand matters, now, at least.) Wind power, and hydrological power (already being used greatly, perhaps) is more so a possibility. As long as the wind stations are kept away (say a minimum of 2 or 3 miles) from dense dwellings areas, possibly any dwelling, except a lone farmer or two that is willing to permit it. And with the Great Plains of America, this is very much possible. If there are 'lies' around, as many have mentioned, this may be more so a concern of "fracturing" technology, and Natural Gas Power. The danger being the pollution of the environment, land, especially water. Look at Nuclear Power here in America. Think it is dead? Hardly, we have very many operative plants all over the U.S. Nobody makes a peep about it any more because the movement to stop development of it was successful. How much pollution has there been from them, relatively speaking, since Three Mile Island?

Darwin Award candidates are always the last to know. Well, again, it's not like they weren'tRead More warned. And warned. And begged. And pleaded. And over and over and over again. Modern science and medical technology makes this ironic situation possible. Those that indulge themselves, contrary to the wisdom of the ages, see technology as the means to the end of pure selfishness. It also allows them to impudently laugh at those with cautious respect for life and civilization itself. That is to say, these people arrogantly believe themselves superior in their license to all that came before them with warnings of self-restraint and self-control. "We can have it all, you losers!" The truth is somewhat more complex. All the post-Sixties "liberated lifestyles" have something in common the participants cannot see for their willful blindness: they create sterile lives. There is no generation. No issue. No follow on. The end of the line. And it makes perfect sense. These aberrant life-style choices were promoted by the same cadre that decided human beings were akin to an infection of the earth mother Gaia, to be destroyed or at least controlled. Too many people mean someone's got to be sacrificed. Who would sacrifice their posterity willingly? Well it's an unnatural demand you've got to admit, so the obvious solution was to grant extreme license, the proverbial "sex, drugs, and rock and roll." Given that millions upon millions accepted this Devil's Bargain of forfeited posterity in exchange for pure hedonistic indulgence, the more perverse the better according to the law of diminishing returns, is it reasonable to expect them to willingly admit the abject horror of their choice as mortality dawns on them, the Boomers mainly, in their old age? No, it is not reasonable to expect Boomers (or anyone) to admit such a mortal mistake. Leon Festinger has much to say about the psychology involved. The short of it is that Christianity, with its message of redemption and hope for life eternal, is the only solution, the only way out for souls lost and forlorn. So now we understand why Christ's message much be repressed, censored, forbidden by any means necessary: redemption of the suicidal wickedness would bring the party to an immediate end. Most people haven't the courage to face such guilt and those that orchestrate it stand to lose awesome power and wealth garnered from peddling flesh and its vices. To the willing participants in the Culture of Death, know that you do have a Way Out with the humility that comes from falling on your knees and begging forgiveness for squandering the inestimable gift that is your life. Cry out to your God and he will hear you and you will know peace - perhaps for the first time in your life. Should you refuse to mend your evil ways then know this: the rest of us will not allow our sons and daughters to be seduced and trapped in a web of empty self-indulgence that murders the soul. We will warn you and speak truth to evil whether you like it or not -- specifically because you don't like it and thereby need most to hear it. But at the end of the day it will be them, who defied all warning and pleading, cajoling and even damnation ... who will face the ultimate consequences alone. By themselves, without bequest or heritage only the end. Party on dudes. Eat drink and be merry. For you, this is all there is. I understand (even as I vehemently oppose it) why you violently and militantly demand we normal people pretend you are fine, as even empty lip-service is better than the oblivion you face every day. May God grant you peace and may you be humble enough to accept it. In the meantime -- keep your self-destructive, posterity-terminating "lifestyles" to yourselves.
